Aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) have been widely investigated due to their characteristics of convenient operation and intrinsic safety. However, there are several issues to be addressed in AZIBs, such as slow diffusion kinetics of Zn2+, cathode material dissolution and the dendrite formation of zinc anodes. Thus, it is challenging to prepare a high-performance cathode material. In this work, we prepare NH4V4O10 flower-like structures by a facile hydrothermal route. The introduction of chitosan significantly enlarges the layer spacing of the (001) crystal plane. The assembled Zn//NVO-0.15C batteries deliver a specific capacity of 520.54 mA h g-1 at a current density of 0.2 A g-1. Furthermore, they maintain 91% of the retention rate at 5.0 A g-1 after 1000 times cycling. It demonstrates the excellent zinc ion storage behavior of ammonium vanadate electrode materials for AZIBs.

The incidence and mortality of gynecologic cancers have been constantly increasing in China over the last 2 decades, which become a major health concern for women. Survival rates of gynecologic cancers are generally not satisfactory and decrease along with the advancing stage, this is mainly due to the lack of a clear prognostic evaluation during the treatment, which brings difficulties to the treatment. Therefore, more accurate prognostic evaluation methods are urgently needed. To solve this problem, this article explores the changes in the biomechanical properties of cells. Changes in the biomechanical properties of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were explored by nano detection technology. The reference criteria for clinical evaluation of ovarian cancer (Age, FIGO stage, Histologic type, CA-125, Ascites, Single/Double, Residual lesion, and Chemotherapy) were compared and analyzed. The results showed that the average cell height of CTCs was 4.12 ± 0.83 µm before chemotherapy and 4.87 ± 0.71 µm after chemotherapy, with an average increase of 18.203 %. The apparent Young's modulus (E) was 3.884 ± 0.045 kPa before chemotherapy and 4.514 ± 0.025 kPa after chemotherapy, which increased by 0.63 kPa. The ROC analysis of FIGO stage of ovarian cancer patients showed that Young's modulus of cells could better reflect the accuracy of the evaluation of FIGO stage of patients, with the accuracy reaching 76.7 %, which was higher than the detection accuracy of CA-125 (72.6 %). In conclusion, the mechanical properties of CTCs can indicate the FIGO stage and diagnosis of patients and predict the prognostic risk of patients.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the association of SLC6A4 gene c.*670T>G polymorphism with the risk for asthma and peripheral blood cytological characteristics among ethnic Zhuang Chinese from Guangxi, China. METHODS: From May 2017 to March 2020, 258 patients diagnosed with asthma and 244 healthy controls were recruited from the Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Minzhu Medical College and the People's Hospital of Hechi. Genotypes of the c.*670T>G polymorphism were determined by Sanger sequencing. Flow cytometry was used in combination with an electrical impedance method for the counting and classification of peripheral blood cells. RESULTS: Compared with the T allele, the G allele of the c.*670T>G polymorphism was associated with the risk for asthma in the population (OR = 1.54, 95%CI = 1.15-2.06; P = 0.004). Compared with the GT and TT genotypes, homozygous GG genotype also comprised a risk factor (OR = 1.66, 95%CI = 1.16-2.38; P = 0.005). Stratification of the risk factors showed that the homozygous GG genotype has increased the risk of asthma in males and urban residents (P < 0.01). The erythrocyte, hemoglobin and platelet counts of the asthma group were significantly higher than the control group (P < 0.001). The GG, GT and TT genotypes have respectively accounted for 82.35%, 17.65% and 0% of the samples with platelets exceeding the normal value. The overall platelet level of GG genotype was higher than GT+TT genotype (P < 0.05). The significant association was verified by the false positive report probability, and at a prior probability level of 0.1, G vs. T false positive probability was 0.071, and GG vs. GT+TT false positive probability was 0.153. CONCLUSION: The GG genotype of the c.*670T>G polymorphism is associated with the risk for asthma among ethnic Zhuang Chinese from northwest Guangxi. Above finding has also enriched the genotypic data and peripheral blood phenotype for this polymorphism.

BACKGROUND: Data on epidemiologic features, treatments and outcomes in women diagnosed with ovarian malignancy during pregnancy are very sparse due to its low incidence. The goal of our study was to summarize the epidemiologic characteristics of pregnant women complicated with ovarian malignancy and investigate the safety and efficacy of chemotherapy during pregnancy. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinicopathological data of eight patients suffering from ovarian malignancy during pregnancy in our institution from June 2011 to July 2021. Furthermore, a systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed up to 1 September 2021, which identified 92 cases with ovarian malignancy during pregnancy eligible for the analysis. Therefore, we collected the data of 100 pregnant patients complicated with ovarian malignancy, including clinical demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment interventions and outcomes. RESULTS: In total, 100 pregnant patients complicated with ovarian malignancy were investigated and classified into three groups: 34 cases in the epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) group, 38 cases in the germ cell tumors (GCTs) group and 28 cases in the sex cord-stromal tumors (SCSTs) group. The onset age of pregnant patients with epithelial ovarian cancer was significantly higher than that of other patients. Pelvic mass and abdominal pain were the common clinical presentations of pregnant patients with ovarian malignancy. For distinguishing epithelial ovarian cancer during pregnancy, the area under the curve (AUC) of CA-125 was 0.718 with an optimal cutoff value of 58.2 U/mL. Moreover, 53 patients underwent surgery during pregnancy, the majority of whom underwent unilateral adnexectomy in the second trimester. Furthermore, 43 patients received chemotherapy during pregnancy, and 28 delivered completely healthy newborns at birth; 13 neonates showed transient abnormalities without further complications; and 2 died during the neonatal period. CONCLUSIONS: Our study reveals the safety of chemotherapy for ovarian malignancy during pregnancy. However, large-sample prospective studies are still needed to further explore the safety of chemotherapy in pregnant patients with malignancy to choose the appropriate chemotherapy regimen and achieve the maximum benefit for patients.

OBJECTIVE: The process of normal cervix changing into high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) and invasive cervical cancer is long and the mechanisms are still not completely clear. This study aimed to reveal the protein profiles related to HSIL and cervical cancer and find the diagnostic and prognostic molecular changes. METHODS: Data-independent acquisition (DIA) analysis was performed to identify 20 healthy female volunteers, 20 HSIL and 20 cervical patients in a cohort to screen differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) for the HSIL and cervical cancer. Subsequently, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were used for functional annotation of DEPs; the protein-protein interaction (PPI) and weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) were performed for detection of key molecular modules and hub proteins. They were validated using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). RESULTS: A total of 243 DEPs were identified in the study groups. GO and KEGG analysis showed that DEPs were mainly enriched in the complement and coagulation pathway, cholesterol metabolism pathway, the IL-17 signaling pathway as well as the viral protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor pathway. Subsequently, the WGCNA analysis showed that the green module was highly correlated with the cervical cancer stage. Additionally, six interesting core DEPs were verified by ELISA, APOF and ORM1, showing nearly the same expression pattern with DIA. The area under the curve (AUC) of 0.978 was obtained by using ORM1 combined with APOF to predict CK and HSIL+CC, and in the diagnosis of HSIL and CC, the AUC can reach to 0.982. The high expression of ORM1 is related to lymph node metastasis and the clinical stage of cervical cancer patients as well as the poor prognosis. CONCLUSION: DIA-ELSIA combined analysis screened and validated two previously unexplored but potentially useful biomarkers for early diagnosis of HSIL and cervical cancer, as well as possible new pathogenic pathways and therapeutic targets.

Docetaxel could inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells by targeting microtubules. The extension of cellular microtubules plays an important role in the invasion and metastasis of tumor cells. This paper aims to study the distribution and mechanical properties of cytoskeletal proteins with low concentration of docetaxel. MTT assay was used to detect the minimum drug activity concentration of docetaxel on SKOV-3 cells, fluorescence staining was used to analyze the distribution of cytoskeleton proteins, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was used to observe the morphology of single cells, and atomic force microscopy(AFM) was used to determine the microstructure and mechanical properties of cells. The results showed that the IC10 of docetaxel was 1 ng/ml. Docetaxel can effectively inhibit the formation of cell pseudopodia, hinder the indirectness between cells, reduce the cell extension area, and make the cells malformed. In addition, when AFM analyzes the effects of drugs on cell microstructure and mechanical properties, the average cell surface roughness and cell height are positively correlated with the concentration of docetaxel. Especially when the concentration was 100 ng/ml, the adhesion decreased by 37.04% and Young's modulus increased by 1.57 times compared with the control group. This may be because docetaxel leads to microtubule remodeling and membrane protein aggregation, which affects cell microstructure and increases cell strength, leading to significant changes in the mechanical properties of ovarian cells. This is of great significance to the study of the formation mechanism of tumor cell invasion and migration activities mediated by actin.

C. testosteroni is a research topic that can degrade steroid hormones into water and carbon dioxide through a series of enzymes in the body. Short-chain dehydrogenase (SDR) are a class of NAD (P) H-dependent oxidoreductases in C. testosteroni. Its main function is catalyzing the redox of the hydroxyl/ketone group of the hormone. In this paper, a SDR gene(SDRx) is cloned from C. testosteroni ATCC11996 and expressed. The polyclonal antibody was prepared and the SDRx gene knocked out by homologous recombination. Wild type and mutant C. testosteroni induced by testosterone, estradiol, estrone and estriol. The growth curves of the bacteria were measured by spectrophotometer. ELISA established the expression of SDRx protein, and high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) detected the contents of various hormones. The results show that the growth of wild type was faster than mutant type induced by testosterone. The concentration of SDRx is 0.318 mg/ml under testosterone induction. It has a great change in steroid hormones residue in culture medium measured by HPLC: Testosterone residue in the mutant type group was 42.4 % more than the wild type in culture medium. The same thing happens with induced by estrone. In summary, this SDRx gene involved in the degradation of testosterone and estradiol, and effects the growth of C. testosteroni.

Imiquimod (Imiq) is a synthetic imizoquinoline compound which can act on Toll-like receptor (TLR)7 and transduce signals involved in cell activation. We investigated the role of Imiq on contact hypersensitivity (CHS) and explored the potential mechanisms of mast cells involved in the process. Topical application of Imiq cream augmented DNFB mediated CHS in C57BL/6 mice. Imiq application induced skin inflammation and increased the number of dendritic cells (DCs) in the draining lymph nodes (DLNs). The splenic cell proliferation to DNBS in DNFB and Imiq treated mice was greater than that in mice of DNFB treatment alone. Peritoneal cell-derived mast cells (PCMCs) expressed TLR7 mRNA. The results from toluidine blue staining for mast cells and histamine detection indicated that Imiq alone did not induce mast cell degranulation while Imiq plus DNFB significantly induced mast cell degranulation. Cromolyn, pyrilamine and cimetidine attenuated CHS reaction induced by Imiq. Our findings suggest that Imiq could augment the intensity of CHS reaction. The mechanisms underlying the effect may relate to histamine release by mast cells and induction of DC homing to DLNs. Blocking histamine action in early time of allergen contact is beneficial to the alleviation of CHS.
